What interior design actually costs in Bengaluru by home size, room and finish level — with the line items that move the number and the ones that quietly inflate it.
Most interior quotes in Bengaluru are impossible to compare because no two are itemised the same way. One studio quotes ₹4.2 lakh for a 2 BHK and another quotes ₹6.8 lakh, and the difference is not quality — it is what each of them left out. This guide explains how the number is actually built.
These are turnkey starting points — design, materials, manufacturing and installation for the whole home.
| Home size | Starting from | Typical range |
|---|---|---|
| 1RK / 1BHK / Studio | ₹2.5 Lac | ₹2.5–4 Lac |
| 2 BHK | ₹4.5 Lac | ₹4.5–9 Lac |
| 3 BHK | ₹7.5 Lac | ₹7.5–16 Lac |
| 4 BHK | ₹15 Lac | ₹15–28 Lac |
| 5 BHK / Duplex | ₹25 Lac | ₹25 Lac+ |
Commercial fit-outs work differently — those are quoted per square foot, from ₹1,500.
Interior cost tracks the running feet of modular work far more closely than it tracks the size of your flat. A 3 BHK where you only do the kitchen and three wardrobes can cost less than a 2 BHK with a full false ceiling, a TV panelling wall, a crockery unit and a study.
BWR (boiling water resistant) is the sensible default for dry areas. BWP (boiling water proof) marine-grade belongs in the kitchen and anywhere near a bathroom wall. The price gap between a commercial-grade board and a branded BWP board across a whole home is easily ₹60,000–1,00,000 — and it is the single most common place a cheap quote saves money without telling you.
| Finish | Relative cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Laminate | Base | Durable, huge range, right choice for most homes |
| Acrylic | 1.4–1.7× | High gloss; shows fingerprints in dark shades |
| PU paint | 1.6–2× | Seamless colour, repairable, needs a good spray shop |
| Veneer | 1.8–2.5× | Real wood grain; every panel is slightly different |
Hinges, channels and lift-ups are where a quote hides. Soft-close everything from a reputed brand adds real money over generic hardware, and it is also the part you touch fifty times a day. Ask for the brand by name in writing.
A full home false ceiling with cove lighting, profile lights and a wiring change is a significant line — often ₹60,000 upwards for a 2 BHK. It also transforms how the home feels more than almost anything else per rupee spent.
Spend on the kitchen, the wardrobes and the lighting. Those are used daily, hard to redo, and they carry the whole feel of the home. Save on decorative panelling, feature walls in bedrooms nobody sees, and anything in a room you will re-purpose within five years. That advice costs us money on some projects, and we give it anyway.
