Interior Design Cost in Bangalore: A Straight Answer (2026)
What interiors actually cost in Bangalore by home size, what drives the number up, and how to compare two quotes that look nothing alike.
Ask five Bangalore studios what a 3 BHK costs and you will get five numbers spread across ten lakh rupees. None of them are lying. They are quoting different scopes and describing them with the same words.
The starting points
| Home size | From | Common range |
|---|---|---|
| 1RK / 1BHK | ₹2.5 Lac | ₹2.5–4 Lac |
| 2 BHK | ₹4.5 Lac | ₹4.5–9 Lac |
| 3 BHK | ₹7.5 Lac | ₹7.5–16 Lac |
| 4 BHK | ₹15 Lac | ₹15–28 Lac |
| 5 BHK / Duplex | ₹25 Lac | ₹25 Lac+ |
Cost follows carpentry, not carpet area
This is the single most useful thing to understand. Your bill tracks the running feet of modular work, not the size of the flat. A 3 BHK where you do only the kitchen and three wardrobes can come in below a 2 BHK with full false ceiling, a panelled TV wall, a crockery unit and a study nook.
So the first question is not "what does a 3 BHK cost" — it is "what am I actually building".
The five variables that move the number
Plywood grade
BWR for dry areas, BWP marine for kitchen and bathroom-adjacent walls. Across a full home the gap between commercial-grade board and branded BWP is ₹60,000–1,00,000. It is the most common place a cheap quote quietly saves money.
Shutter finish
Laminate is the base. Acrylic runs 1.4–1.7×, PU paint 1.6–2×, veneer 1.8–2.5×. Finish choice on a whole home can swing the total by two to three lakh.
Hardware
Soft-close hinges and full-extension channels from a named brand cost real money over generic fittings. They are also the parts you touch fifty times a day. If the budget forces a choice, take better hardware and simpler finishes.
False ceiling and lighting
From roughly ₹60,000 for a 2 BHK including the wiring changes. Per rupee spent it changes how a home feels more than almost any other line.
Civil and electrical
Moving points for a TV wall, adding load for a kitchen appliance bank, or reworking plumbing for a relocated sink — all real work, all frequently omitted from the headline number.
What gets left out of cheap quotes
- Whole-home painting after carpentry
- Kitchen countertop and sink
- Electrical point relocation
- Loose furniture, mattresses, curtains, rugs — often ₹1–3 Lac separately
- Society interior deposits and lift charges
How to compare quotes honestly
- Fix the scope first — same rooms, same running feet, in writing.
- Demand plywood grade and brand, hardware brand, laminate brand by name.
- Ask explicitly whether ceiling, electrical, painting and countertop are in or out.
- Read the warranty: what it covers, for how long, and who honours it.
- Check the payment schedule. Large upfront demands are a risk signal.
Our advice on where to spend
Kitchen, wardrobes, lighting. Daily use, hard to redo later, and they carry the character of the whole home. Save on decorative panelling and feature walls in rooms nobody sees. We give this advice knowing it reduces some of our own quotes.
