Modular Kitchen Cost in Bangalore: What You Pay For
A line-by-line look at modular kitchen pricing in Bangalore — carcass, shutters, hardware, countertop and accessories — and where the money is well spent.
Modular kitchens with us start at ₹1.6 Lac. Most Bangalore apartment kitchens land between ₹2.2 and ₹4 Lac. Here is what separates those two ends.
The five cost components
1. Carcass — roughly 30% of the bill
The boxes behind the shutters. In Bangalore this should be BWP marine plywood for base units and anything in the wet zone. Bengaluru's monsoon humidity plus an eventual leak under the sink will destroy MDF, and BWR is a compromise best kept to upper units.
2. Shutters — roughly 25%
Laminate is the workhorse and genuinely fine. Acrylic at 1.4–1.7× buys gloss; in dark shades it also buys fingerprints. PU paint gives seamless colour and can be repaired. Membrane is cheapest but can lift near sustained heat.
3. Hardware — roughly 20%
This is where cheap kitchens are made cheap. Full-extension soft-close channels on every base unit, a proper corner solution, a tandem pantry pull-out and lift-ups on tall uppers. Deep fixed shelves are cheaper and you will lose everything at the back of them.
4. Countertop — roughly 15%
| Cost | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
| Granite | Lower | Tough, heat-proof, visible seams |
| Quartz | Higher | Non-porous, uniform, can scorch |
| Marble | Varies | Stains from turmeric and lemon — avoid |
5. Accessories and appliances — the rest
Chimney, hob, sink, water purifier point, waste bin pull-out, cutlery inserts, bottle pull-out. Individually small, collectively ₹40,000–1,00,000.
Three worked examples
Compact 8-running-foot L-shape, essentials: BWP base, laminate shutters, soft-close basics, granite counter — around ₹1.6–2 Lac.
Standard 12-running-foot L-shape, premium: BWP throughout, premium laminate, branded soft-close hardware, corner carousel, tandem pantry, quartz counter — around ₹2.8–3.6 Lac.
Large 18-running-foot U-shape with breakfast counter, luxe: acrylic or PU shutters, full accessory set, quartz, profile lighting under uppers — ₹5 Lac upwards.
Where to spend, where to hold back
Spend on hardware and the carcass. Both are invisible and both determine whether the kitchen is still good in year seven. Hold back on gloss finishes and decorative glass uppers. A laminate kitchen with excellent channels beats an acrylic kitchen with generic ones every single day.
Costs people forget
- Demolishing and disposing of the old kitchen
- Plumbing relocation if the sink moves
- A dedicated electrical circuit for a heavy appliance bank
- Wall tiling or dado replacement behind the counter
